About Emdash:
Emdash is a progressive agency that builds campaigns and brands for social change. Since 2009, we’ve partnered exclusively with the for-good sector to tackle some of the biggest issues of our time, like decolonization, climate change, and gender justice.
We are hiring a full-time strategist to develop creative ideas and high quality content for a range of communications projects and campaigns. A full job description is available below, but we are specifically interested in those who bring the following skills to complement our team:
- Experience with creating and implementing campaigns, research, public affairs, advocacy, and/or government relations for non-profit and charitable organizations, governments, associations, or other groups
- Track record of developing impactful communications around complex and diverse social, economic, and environmental issues
- Great attention to detail with well-developed research and writing skills
- Strong knowledge and interest in media other digital trends, politics and current events, and emerging social media
- Ability to work well in a fully remote, asynchronous work environment
- Experience with Indigenous organizations and/or advocacy, particularly those with lived experience

This is a fully remote position, based anywhere in Canada. This is a permanent, existing role.

- Salary range of $55,000-$75,000, commensurate to experience.

Job Description: Strategist
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Strategist is a critical part of the project team at Emdash, contributing creative ideas and tangible content to a range of communications projects and campaigns. This staff-level position develops content, builds strategy documents, liaises with and provides communications support to clients, and contributes to the strategic growth of Emdash.
OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE
- Content Development: Drafting, supporting, and implementing the development of communications content for client projects
- Research and Analysis: Staying updated on digital trends, media, and current events, conducting research for projects
- Mobilizing and Educating: Creating impactful, creative, and unique campaigns and communications tools for public awareness and social change
- Organizational Growth: Contributing to the development of Emdash as an inclusive, creative, and successful organization
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Develop and contribute to communications and campaign strategies, press releases and other media content, social media content and strategies, campaign websites, and other communications content
- Identify communication tactics, metrics and performance indicators, and tools for client projects; conduct research and analysis for projects
- Participate in project meetings with clients and internally, contribute to the development of client projects
- Contribute to strategic planning for projects and campaigns, and bring creative ideas and insight to projects
- Develop, place, and evaluate digital and traditional media ads for clients
- Manage personal workload through Emdash tools, including Asana, to complete tasks and meet deadlines
- Stay updated on emerging social media platforms, media and communication trends, news and information relevant to client projects
- Be an active part of the Emdash team by attending and participating in regular project and all-staff meetings, supporting Emdash expertise, business development, and marketing activities, contributing to pro bono work in the community, and helping build our brand as a representative of Emdash at events
- Other duties related to the work of Emdash and client projects, as identified
